This was such an interesting situation to watch unfold. I've had two different hummingbird nests nearby, but both had issues and no chicks survived to my knowledge. But, recently there have been a few fledgling hummingbirds and mothers that have been feeding them. This group of photos begins when one of the fledglings was perched on the barbed wire, and the mother bird did not like that one bit. Perhaps the bird was too exposed, or would overheat in the direct sun?? I'm not sure, but the mother bird was repeatedly trying to drag the fledgling by the beak and head (to my amazement). The fledgling was stubborn for a while, but eventually moved back to a shady and discrete branch. Only then would the mother feed the young one. Lots of bickering between the two, and they've stuck around the trees for a couple weeks now. Fun bird watching.
