Whenever I visit Rocky Mountain National Park, it's almost as though I'm cheating since wildlife is so abundant! This brief encounter with a group of elk was, admittedly, just by the roadside. There were 20-30 individuals with one main bull in charge. He was VERY intent on keeping his ladies together. I snapped a few quick pics and then hiked up the nearby Fern Lake trail and spotted a few other elk along the way. Gorgeous day out on the trail.
