After decades of hiking, camping, backpacking, 4x4'ing, mountain biking and trail running in and around in our beautiful wilderness areas, I began to have more and more encounters with wildlife. Sightings are one thing, and I love seeing wildlife anywhere/everywhere, but up-close encounters are a special opportunity that many people may not ever get a chance to experience.
Photography has been a passion of mine throughout those outdoor adventures, and at first it was more of a hobby. Over time and as the number and nature of wildlife encounters took a dramatic turn, I have become much more serious about the photographic opportunity presented by these magical moments.
This work is less about individual images and is instead more about the stories within and the collection as a whole. While customary for photographers to show only their very best shots, my personal style is to show those best shots and, often, several less remarkable images that help share context of the moment. My "only the best" images can be seen as a group on my favorite images page. Stories that include secondary context images can be viewed on my photo journal page. My home page serves as an image gallery that can be filtered in various ways.
This website and my photography are a work in progress. At this stage, I'm building my skills and my portfolio while enjoying these amazing experiences with wildlife and the great outdoors. Later in 2025, I intend to publish a coffee table book that includes many of my top shots and favorite recent stories. I'm not actively selling or showing my prints at this time.
