Mother's ear is an easy mark, so I know I've seen her before. This was a really fun exchange where the mother was very comfortable and the little one was rather curious about me. "Goofball" walked right up to me at one point, while mother casually rested in the snow nearby. Surprisingly though, her 11 month old calf in this encounter was nowhere to be seen when I saw "Broken Ear" six months earlier in October. Looking back at the last encounter, it's really surprising that I didn't see the six month old and instead there was a different adolescent moose present. Perhaps Goofball was there last time, but hiding in the trees? Was the yearling in October an offspring from the year prior?
