This lass was grazing and I couldn't help myself, so I had to say hi from ~200 yards away or so. She was busy eating breakfast and it may have been half an hour before she looked my direction, so I said hello with a soft whistle. It was perfectly calm out, so she easily heard me from far away -- but I was surprised that she was surprised. It's so funny that they can tune out cars and other mundane noises, but some noises will definitely get their attention if they don't already know you're there. I didn't stick around since I was on my way to meet a friend for some backcountry snowboarding up St. Vrain Mountain. We stopped at 11.200k at the saddle and headed back down. Fun day.
